James Ervin Tanner-Rhea was born in 1951 and raised in Middlesex, New Jersey. His sense of community was developed very early on as he personally witnessed and lived a good community life style. He was taught and accepted what it meant to help those around him and what could be accomplished by working together.
Jimmy did not experience the forced integration of the public schools in his hometown. This was one of the defining issues in the development of his perspectives on justice, race relations and his faith in God.
Jimmy traveled in the U.S. with his family after a short tour in the military in 1969. They settled in Boulder, CO, when his daughter entered school in 1976. Living there helped Jimmy to appreciate the benefit of living in a diverse community. Though he'd like a more diverse Boulder, it's a town that he loves --along with his family, his friends and his work. Really, he likes all kinds of people and gives a lot of his time and energy to just about everyone.
He also sings, plays electric bass guitar and prays in God's name with four choirs at the Second Baptist Church of Boulder. He has performed with the Dr. Horace Boyer Gospel Workshops and at Promise Keeper events. Jimmy's singing and playing speaks for itself. Look for more great music from this guy.
